First full-LED headlamps for the Audi R8 provides all lighting functions with 54 high-performance LEDs per headlamp, which have a light color similar to daylight offering better visibility at night and foul weather conditions.

In the R8, the LEDs are clustered—14 for the low beams, 8 for the high beams—and cooled by fans to keep internal temperatures in the housing low. A strip of 24 LEDs forms the daytime running lights below the two high beams and the turn indicater above them.
The LED bulbs don't use a filament as in halogen lamps or gas plasma as in HID lamps. Instead, they create light from the movement of current across a semi-conductor chip.
At the rear, Audi also uses full LED lights for the Audi R8 5.2, that turn on much quicker than the usual halogen light bulbs and last much longer.
Enjoy.
